My husband is a clusterhead and his pain diminishes to nothing between attacks. I am a former migrainer and migraine pain can ebb and escalate but it does last for days on end. I'd sure be seeking out a second opinion, from a qualified neuro if I were you. This is not meant in any way to offend you - quite the opposite in fact. NO ONE wants you to have cluster headaches!! We'd be happy kids if we could tell you what you have is not clusters. On the other hand, if you do have clusters, we will welcome you with open arms - just hate to see anyone treating something incorrectly and this certainly isn't the first doctor we've heard of to offer an incorrect (I'm not saying it necessarily IS, though) diagnosis.
Just keep digging and asking questions. You are your own best reference.
Hang in there.
