Don't know about pain in the hands, but aciclovir is most useful, my source says, for different herpes conditions. It has been propagated as an anti-inflammatory for all sorts of things, but is in that respect unproven.
The source does not mention any side effects like you are describing.
I do know of extrasensitive or again numb and semi-paralysed arms in migraine sufferers.
Best see a neurologist!
