What I know of oxycotin is that it's a drug used for cancer pain. (I know there are other uses for it) It is a time released percoset used for moderate pain,(lasts for 12 hours) and the first release is 35-45 min after you take it, and then another surge after 6-7 hours. The reason why I think it wouldn't be the best med for clusters is that you have to put up with the sedation effect during that 12 hours, as well as the nausea. Cluster pain is not moderate but freakin severe!! I was taking not too long ago a drug called mscontin for cancer pain. MScontin is a time released morphine drug. It did nothing to help me with cluster pain. I can understand taking oxycontin when you are in constant pain, like severe back injuries, or cancer pain, but not for cluster headaches. Cluster headaches is the most severe pain I know, but it isn't constant requiring to be medicated for that length of time.

What has your husband tried so far? Has 02 or imitrex worked yet? I think there are other drugs out there that would allow your husband to keep from being on narcotics for that long of time.
