In so many social situations when the beast has attacked, I've just excused myself, loaded up with Kleenex, and gone for a long walk. Yeah, your guests or hosts may not understand but who does besides another clusterhead. I don't think you should avoid the get together but if the beast attacks and you dissapear and they don't understand, that's their problem. Don't let the beast rule your life.
