Near as I can tell I got my first cluster headache after the birth of my second child about 20 years ago. I am now 51 and have not had a CH in 14 months after having been on a 12 months schedule for several years.
When I first got them I thought I had really bad sinus or something like that and toughed it out. I guess mine were of shorter duration back then or the pain just made me stupid (I don't know about you but I don't do my best thinking while having a cluster!) But a few years ago they started coming more frequently and were much more intense. I happened to read about clusters in a headache book and asked my doctor who then asked me why I had suffered so long without telling him.
I agree with the other women; get another doctor after you have done some research on your own so you can be prepared. This site is an excellent resource!
