I have tried smearing the prescription cream on my temple and above my eye. I did not smear it up in my nose. I have used lidocaine drops in my (rather large) right nostril and drained it into my sinus. I haven't had much relief. BUT--I have aborted a few attacks within five minutes by putting a few drops of hot pepper sauce under my tongue and holding it there. It doesn't even burn unless you get the stuff on the top of your tongue or on your lips. I just bought some habanero sauce--the hottest. It is 100 times hotter than the average jalapeno. Boy, do I have a surprise ready for the beast--and, no doubt, for me.
