I have found Imitrex to be a God send. It always takes my headache away within minutes. However, I have found that the more I use it the more frequently I get headaches. I could take a shot and then 4 hours later I feel another surge in my temple and the headache is back. I have found that oxygen often aborts my headache if I catch it early. Also I have used Tylenol PM which has diphenhydramine (benedryl) which sometimes helps. There is a myriad of treatments that work fine once and the next time don't. Yesterday I put red pepper cream up my nostril (yikes!) and that helped. Good luck.
