Sounds like the drugs you're on are typical over the counter types - you want to try some of the other things mentioned here - you'll wonder the day after you start how you ever coped without them.
Do show your friends and relatives some carefully selected offprints from the site. Just browsing some of the stuff here lately will confuse (and possibly put them off!).
Good idea to start with the link called "the devil" on the left, and the general intro stuff that DJ and others have put up.
