unless you are paying your own bill at a full-service retail pharmacy, be very wary of what they tell you about drug availability
many pharmacies prefer to just not deal with many of the HMOs and lesser insurance plans, and come up with all sorts of excuses to get rid of the patient
this happened a couple times to my parent when traveling away from their HMOs home area - they were told the prescriptions couldn't be honored interstate - all sorts of foolishness that "just ain't so" - basically to refuse their business (which IS any business's right if they so chose) but not be willing to say so outright (which is considered diplomacy by some, but I call it sleazy) - in other words:
"we don't want that order, but we also don't want to look bad, so we'll cook up some excuse that makes somebody else look like the bad guy"
