Some of the posters here talk about pride. You may think that is typically male. But I am a female, and I think there's no pride involved. I just cannot bear anyone too physically close when I have an attack.

And the most important thing (but you're halfway there because you looked up this board) let him know and feel that he is ok no matter what, that he is not a wimp or a shirker, and that you are definitely not ashamed of him.
That is the best support.
