Hi Barbara,
Awhile back you replied to a my post and said that the cafergot seemed
to work for you. I have been a ch sufferer on and off for the last 20 some
years, and I have had some success with the drug Bellergal S 2X a day as a
preventative. This was prescribed for me by my neuro who is also a woman,
and is primarily used to treat menopause symtoms, but the combination of the
ergotomine and phenobarb have worked for my ch. They have stopped making the
namebrand Bellergal S, but I can still get the generic brand Belamine. I feel
pretty good most of the time, with the generic, I have shadows, but I can handle
it. Occasionally I will have a breakthrough, but not too often, and I can stay
on it until I feel the cycle is over.
I know surgery is a scary thought, I agree with the others, I would get a second
opinion, and try other meds. before I made any decisions. Best of luck to you,
and wishing us all pain free days ahead. TJ
