Surgery, in my opinion, should be the very last option. There are several procedures out there that have been tried for treating cluster headaches...and as far as I know, none of them have been very reliable in clearing CHs.
If you really have tried everything, it may be worth trying...as most of us would try or do almost anything to get rid of the pain. But each of the procedures hold certain risks that you must take into account. Do you know which procedure he/she was suggesting?
Why don't you email me what meds you have tried, and a brief description of your headaches. I would be happy to see if I have any other ideas of things to try before you go under the knife. Also send me the name of the procedure and I'll tell you what I know about it.
