Karen I truly feel for your son. I started having my attacks close to his age. Believe it or not, I never even told my mother about the first one. I thought God was punishing me for something (couldn't think of anything I had done though) But, I found that knowledge of this thing was the best medicine for me. Not that it kept away the pain, but it helped me endure it.

Exhaustion is very common! I feel like I have taken a sleeping pill after an attack finally retreats. And I take no drugs whatsoever for my attacks. (mainly because I have never found any that work!)

Keep in mind that even though he is in pain, unlike a migraine or stomach flu etc. at times, it is good to distract us (as long as it's not a humdinger or a 10 (kip's scale) with normal conversation. At least I like that. I will tell you and I am sure Steve will too, if he would rather not have you talk to him. Sometimes I can't answer, but just hearing someone sometimes helps.

I pray for Steve, I pray for you, I pray for us all.
Sherry
