You have hit on one of my pet theories. I do believe that there is an allergic component to all of this. I am 48 and have had episodic clusters since the age of 20. I also have lots of allergies.
I believe that the onset of a cluster cycle has something to do with an allergic reaction that puts our chemistry out of whack:
1) seasonal attacks
2) stuffy nose, tearing eye during attack
3) circadian clock
4) etc., etc.
