It is a matter of choice and no 2 people are alike.
I MUST have heat - extreme heat. Hot towels would be great, but they don't stay hot long enough. I blow hot air from my hairdryer, and it soothes even if it doesn't abort the CH attack right away.
Drinking hot coffee and holding the hot liquid in my mouth on the upper gumline where pain is very intense seems to help. But a child shouldn't try it, I fear. Neither should he try breathing steam which helps me.You cannot be careless here.
And the Orajel on the gums, nose, ear, face, scalp - wherever seems to help I try during a bad attack.
But then others would be appalled by this regimen.
Some cannot tolerate heat at all and even like to go out in the snow during an attack.
You just have to experiment. Although I cannot force myself to try the cold. It makes my head hurt to consider it.
I hope Steve is feeling up to playing some and having some summer fun. Give him my love.
