I like the scene when Jack Nicholson finally realizes that the Indian isn't really insane after all. Jack notices that the Indian keeps the same piece of gum under his bed, day after day after day after day and chews it.
Jack starts dancing around singing some silly song about how good gum tastes after it's been sitting around for a loooooooong time. The Indian looks at Jack, and for the first time in the movie - smiles.
