I can certainly understand your need to "vent."
Do you think that maybe a doctor's inability to treat his/her patient adaquately might have more to do with the doctor the "person" rather than the doctor the "technician?" What I mean to suggest is that maybe there are some who take the inability to help a patient effectively as some sort of "personal" failure or bump to the ego. I feel much more comfortable with a physician who isn't afraid to say "I don't know." It's when they can't bring themselves to admit they don't have a neat answer for everything, that the patient becomes the scapegoat for such vanity. I suppose we have to remember that they're only human.
