Some people say sensitivity to noise is a thyroid problem. But I think mine is a slight nervous disorder (maybe from lack of sleep).
I had a battery-run kitchen wall clock. Waiting for it to tick was like suffering the Chinese water torture. I removed the battery and hid the clock in a secret place so no one could find and rehang it.
