If the child brain's objective is to distract the conscious mind's attention to the pain, then there would be no better method than to focus all the pain in one spot rather than diffuse it. Remember, we inflict pain as a distraction technique in fighting CH.

It may also be that the child brain only needs to inflict pain on one side to achieve its objectives. Perhaps it only has the power to control one side at a time.

Just part of the theory.
