Why One Side?

Visiting this site during this cluster has caused me to contemplate some of the why/wherefore of CH. In the past I've always just accepted the fact that I have them and I'll need to endure the best I can for a few months. This morning I was wondering what the physiology is that causes the HA on only one side of the head (not that I would ever want that kind of pain in my entire head). We hear vascular, chemical (Seritonin), neuro, etc. But why does it only effect one side. If it's histimines, does anyone get hay fever on only one side of their head? If it's seritonin, doesn't the brain release that equally on both sides? If so, why is only one effected? So on and so on. Has anyone ever heard any reasoning for the one sided attack?
