I have had CH for 21 years. During each bout, they would usually be on one side or the other. Now I am getting them on one side for a few days, another side for a few days, then back and forth each occurance. I've always thought of my CH as its own entity, always trying to f with me. Each time I think I've got it solved, it kicks me back down.
BenSue brought up a good point below, "Why is it only on one side or the other?" Why not both at the same time. Damn that's scary. Maybe the beast has some mercy!? Nah!
