Dr. Lawrence Robbins' latest book, HEADACHE HELP, is, at $15, a real bargin. It covers the same subjects as his, MANAGEMENT OF HEADACHE AND HEADACHE MEDICATIONS, which I have highly recommended but this new volume is less technical and is well written for the general public.
A section which will be especially helpful deals with how to select a physician to treat headache and how to interact with your doc to gain maximum benefit. Other sections cover: medications; effect of hormones on migraine; quick-reference guides ref. medications; alternative treatments; self-help strategies; and headache in special populations (children, women, people over fifty, etc.)
He has a brief section on the latest theories about causes of headache, the role of serotonin, and how medications work. Information on side effects of medications will answer many questions without having to dig in other sources.
