I have suffered from migraines most of my adult life. Then I started getting clusters. They are very different. Occaisonally I will get a migraine that will last several weeks. for the last 6 years my clusters have been chronic. When I have a migraine and get a cluster attack on top of it. It is very very horrible. Luckily My clusters are under control by taking several doses of methadone each day and using ACTIQ (A very quick acting and powerful narcotic) for my breakthrough which reduce my cluster by about 90%. However when I have a migraine also the pain reduction is not nearly so great. My clusters respond well to narcotics, my migaines do not.
