You can open up keyboards. If this one is headed for the eternal hunting grounds, what does it matter if you open it up, right? Only don't do it when it is plugged in...
Sometimes these beasties work beautifully once you have looked at their insides, shaken your head and said, no, no, sew the patient up, nothing to be done. Scares them...
If you are a dribbler (food etc.) put some clingfilm over your keyboard.
