I was very close to my mother, as My father and I did not get along. In 1993, my mother got very sick, and when they told us she may be going, I would not and could not hear it. Our worst fears were confirmed when April 20, 1993, the day of my 23 and my mothers 53 birthday, my mother passed away due to a combination of poor health and inadequate medical care. I was devastated. Two weeks later, a childhood friend decorated the pavement of Washington and Nederinghaus Avenues with his brains. That was one more loss I could not deal with, but somehow feel I was being primed for the event of 'loss'.
By July 1993, I was a mess. I was having 10 - 12 attacks a day, had been to the emergency room numerous times, and was convinced there was an anyeurism or brain tumor or something. Nothing could cause that much pain and not make itself known. After several tests, including MRI and CATSCAN, I was told that it was without a doubt, " Classic Cluster headaches".
