Hi Shannon,
Your story is very similar to how my clusters began 9 yrs. ago!! First, a more dull "jabbing" pain in my temporal region with the eye drooping and reddening. Then, before ever getting to the 6,7,or 8 pain level - they disappeared, but not before my wife took me to the emergency room one night for treatment! I then was diagnosed by my neurologist and started treatment!

My following cycles have been nothing but more intense and dehabilitating! (don't mean to depress you, but they have) Pain levels quickly escalate to 9 and 10's and they cycle now for a full 2 months! It sounds as though you have the symptoms of these dreaded headaches unfortunately. Most of my cycles awaken me with the demon's greeting and some have come during the daytime hours or first thing in the morning at times - hard to really pinpoint from one cycle to the next! Either way they totally s#*k and it gets to the point of feeling as though you are going out of your mind!!
Best of Luck to you in your search - unfortunately though, i feel (and i am not a doctor) that you are on the right track and should continue watching the message board for good info. on how others deal with this beast!!

Until then - pain free as possible!!
Kyle
