I am very fortunate. When the pain ends after 30-45 minutes, (unless I have been sleep deprived for a while) I feel perfectly normal - grateful the attack is over and ready to resume whatever I was doing when it hit - sleeping, working, shopping, playing.
It is only when I am getting hit 4-5 times a day every day for several days in a row that I begin to fear and dread the attacks and go to the emergency room. Fortunately this only happens when I have gone for some months without medication.
