I guess I was nieve when on Prednesone about 5 years ago. My allergist called it the miracle drug for allergies and sinus infections. I didn't seem to have side effects at the time other than when I went off of it. My knees swelled until my jeans were so tight I had to cut them off. The pharmacist asked how I went off of them. I told him that when the bottle was gone, I quit. He suggested I calle the allergist. The allergist acted like I was crazy. When I called the pharmacist back, he suggested I cut back slowly. He gave me a few more tablets and that is what I did. I never thought about permanent side effects until about 1 month ago when I was discussing medication side effects with a neighbor. She said the side effects were bad, but wouldn't go into details. Since that point, I have continued to gain weight, eat everything in sight, my eyesight continues to worsen and I have very lumpy thights, arms, etc. I attributed all of this to getting older. I'm always thirsty and urinated often but I never really thought much of that either. could someone fill me in on the long-term side effects or am I really just getting older?
