When I first started methadone it took me 2 months of using several times a day with increased dosages each week. After that I went from 4-6 attacks a day to 4-5 per week. I don't know why. My Dr. thinks that the methadine alters the neurotransmitters for the pain and stops them from occuring. after a year or so when my dosages get very high I slowly switch to mscontin and take a break for 2 months from the methadone. I get daily headaches while on the mscontin but it's a lot better then nothing. After 2 months I can go back to half the dose of methadone I was taking before I stoped and get up to year with minimal attacks. Just a thought MIKE L
