Sansert is methysergide. It is an ergot derivative (vasoconstrictor). It is use as a preventative drug for episodic clusters. I say episodic because if it is taken for longer than 6 months there are some very, VERY bad side effects. It results in a fibrotic condition of the kidneys and other organs. They usually let you take it for 6 months. Then you have to come off it for at least 2 weeks before you can resume taking it.

I took it once. I mean it, once! I felt like I was on the down elevator all day, light headed. It was near the end of my cluster so I quit taking it. Next cluster the doc wouldn't prescribe it because of the side effects (which are worse for older people).
