NONE of my comments here are mean't to scare you, butMOST CH sufferers are episodic. My episodes last about a month, the last few years from the end of one menstrual period to the first day of the next. I've gone as long as 9 months between episodes, but the average is six.
I've had them fifteen years and my daughter is 11. It was a horror show when she was small because my husband was gone five days a week. Whitney learned REAL QUICK what "ICE, HEATING PAD and QUIET" meant. I felt horrible at the time but NOW I have a VERY COMPASSIONATE preteen who is so helpful and sympathetic, it makes me cry.
I'm one of those strange people who shys away from meds. I have tried a few...Sansert, Imitrex, Fiorinal...but found the side affects too debilitating. I use heat, ice, shower massage on my neck, Tiger Balm on my face and brushing my hair REAL hard. But, don't go my route, try meds and educate yourself to side effects (short and long term)
READ THE BOARD, at least current messages. There are millions of tips and insights from veteran sufferers.
Good luck and my thoughts are with you.
Kathi
