There is ample evidence that clusters, unlike migraines do not respond to bio-feedback and behavior modification and there is a strong case to be made that they are much less, if at all, psychosomatic.

Your proposition that we might all need this pain, does not offend me and is something I have considered - that maybe I have this martyr complex or somethig - but after 28 years of clustering I think clusters are 100% physiological and they have nothing to do with our psychological states.
