I had an interesting experiance a couple years into my clusters. My Family Dr. used to call My Neuro occaisionally to OK a Demerol Shot. I was then not Chronic and occaisionally would get one to help me get a little relief and sleep. Anyway My Neuro told him to give me a fake injection (Saline only I think). After the usual 1/2 hour I had my wife drive me home and I told her that there was no way I got a Demerol shot I just wasn't getting the relief. We talked about maybe building up a tolerance, but She thought that I should call the Dr. and question him. I said "I don't want to acuse him of doing something like this I thought he might take offense. Several weeks later I was looking at My records from my Neuro. and He wrote down what they had done.Their Final concvlusion "I think it helped him some." I felt lucky that I told my wife at the time I thought I was not getting the Meds I thought. I would have felt stupid to have said this shot really helped. I also know that sometimes a placebo can be very effective due to the mind Making the same chemical change as with the Meds because Subconsciosly it would not know the difference? My Dr.'s assured me that they would not have thought I was faking it if the placebo had worked. I'm just not so sure. Any thoughts?? I still like these Dr.s but I thought it was rude and unprofessional to not have planned on telling me what they had done. Any thoughts. Thanks Mike L
