Well gosh. The personal e-mail that I have received
in response to my rather strong post of today has been
a welcome surprise.
I have heard from several people who thought it would
be in good taste to vent their criticisms privately and
I want to thank them for that consideration. No idea
or feeling is unwelcome as long as it is presented in
good taste. In my opinion, everyone has a right to stand
up and be heard.
The question has been presented several times as to why
more people are not committing themselves to OUCH as a
member. Some have misconceptions, some have valid questions
and I think a general discussion would really do a lot
of us, on both sides, a world of good.
That was really the reason for my post of this am.
If we don't discuss and debate (not argue), how are we to
know what the general population of clusterheads is feeling
I personally believe in the organization OUCH. I believe
it will do wonderful things. I have seen an organization
like ours (with a different problem) grow from a few to
literally tens of thousands.
The views presented will be channeled to the proper
committees. And believe me, there are some darned good
ideas that need to be addressed.
There is only one post that I would like to discuss
here and now, and please remember, this is my personal
response and not that of the Officers or Board of
Directors of OUCH.
"Clique" is a four letter word to me. I don't see how
anyone could think that we have such a thing going at
ch.com., but obviously, some people do think that.
Has the plea for volunteers not been heard? Has the
repeated invitation to join or head up a committee not
been heard? We are all in this together. If there
were a clique, who'd want YOU or ME involved? Maybe
some people with the same sense of humor, religious
belief or what ever hit it off well; more power to them.
They made a friend at ch.com. Maybe a handful of people
have been here since day one and have gotten to know
each other pretty well. Wonderful! Clique? I don't think
so. Did they click? I think so.
For those of you who don't know about the awareness work
that has been in progress( yes, those who've been away
for reasons of their own don't know) please go to the
OUCH Website button in the top left corner and then to
the Brochure or Newsletter and mail it to your doctor,
insurance company, local political representative or
whoever, as have many people at ch.com. have done,
as well as the committees. I would venture a guess that
about 150 mailings have been done.
It all boils down to the fact that I believe in OUCH.
I am excited about the possibilities and am impatient
to see progress be made.
This is a serious matter. Write to your Officers, Board
of Directors and Committee Chairpeople and let them know
your thoughts and ideas. That's what they're here for.
We need to work on getting the ball rolling.
If I've repeated my self, please excuse. Whenever I try
to correct by hitting the "back button", the whole thing
Love you all,
