I agree with you, if we simply ignored old VD (S)he would get tired and go away. Contempt and indifference will make him/her depart much faster than the most spirited defense of the board. Even the NAME is something to cause comment, (what KIND of VD?. . . AIDS?. . . Syphillis?. . . Possibly even something SERIOUS? *LOL*) Recommending fruit-juice, deep-breathing, and pure thoughts for CH is not a helpful thing to do, it may improve your karma but it does nothing for a CH! Anyone who has had one will know that.
