There is no way for me or others here to guess what might be causing your pain.
Since it scares you and you are not happy with the doctor's diagnosis you should get a second opinion as soon posible - for your own peace of mind if nothing else. To me a tension headache is a tight band around my head. I expect the pain varies with others.
PErhaps it is just tension, but perhaps there may be another cause. It does not sound like classic
cluster headace in any case. Meanwhile check some of the other headache sites for information.
And if you wish do return and tell us what your diagnosis is.
