I give my own shots or get someone to give them to me at home. When I have a HA, I don't feel like going out to the ER or doctor or anywhere else.

The Imitrex comes with an injector that you just have to mash the button. It stings, but if you're hurting bad enough, you don't even feel the sting.

The DHE is a little tougher. Before you try giving yourself DHE injections, LEARN how to do it. The DHE injections feel about like battery acid going in and leave knots in your legs or rear. It's really better to get it IV, but you have to go to ER or hosp. for that. I have had visiting nurses (home health care) come to the house and give it IV.

I've been chronic for a couple of years, so I guess shots don't even bother me anymore. I just want relief.

There is also cafegot. You can get it in pill form (didn't work for me) or supp. It may mess up your stomach, but it beats the pain.

Hope you find something that works well for you.

Hugs BD
