I am a 46 year old male respiratory therapist, who unfortunately had degernerative disk disease in 1996. I have had a complete diskectomy C4 C5 C6 with fusion and hard ware in 1/97. THe surgery was a failure. I had a second surgery 12/97 Laminectomy with more hard ware. I was diagnosed with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy in the left shoulder, arm and hand. i have been on many pain killers, nueroton, soma, and to many other drugs to mention. I recently went to the Cleveland Clinic to see Dr. Stanton Hicks an expert on R.S.D. I was put on Mexiletive twice a day with no results. The R.S.D has spread to the chest wall. I have constant pain and rapid heart beats, mainly at night. My EKG was normal, as was blood gases. I can not sleep or lead any kind of normal life. I am completely disabled and on social security. Dr. Hicks wants to put in a nerve stimulator.
Can anyone help me with my problems? Has anyone ever had these problems and the surgical procedure with the nerve wire implant. Are there any other drugs out there to help me?
