Michele, I am one of those for whom Verapamil works.
I take nothing between episodes, start in very low with 80 a day when shadows start being a nuisance. I then raise the dosage to 160, 240 if the shadows are very hard, and up to 360. I may have to go higher next time, just never did.

I have no side effects with verapamil. Others do.
For me it is a very mild medication. Not for others. (That is THE hallmark of clusters, I am beginning to think. We all react differently, one needs cold, the other heat... go figure it out.)

Also, I use oxygen to cut an attack. I hope you have enough time before your vacation to find out if it works for you and organise either taking bottles along or having them delivered to your holiday address.

Contrary to what somebody posted earlier, you CAN take oxygen on some planes - check with the airline. I am told KLM does do it.

If you try ogygen you need a special valve that delivers 7-14 l. per minute (not the gentle one for asthmatics etc.) and a special non-rebreather mask.

Hope this helps you along.
Walk in Beauty, annemarie
