My husband was just diagnosed with cluster headaches last week. We're in our second week of this episode. The Doc sent home some Stadol...it helped the first time, but not last night. He just got all incoherent. We're worried about side effect/addictive properties. Taco (my husband) asked me to find some alternatives. He tried Imetrix nasal in 1998 and his brain caught on fire...he won't do that one again. I'm thinking of calling th Dr to ask for Oxygen...any thoughts?
Also...he vomits violently at during these attacks (I know it's not typical, however all of the other symptoms point to a cluster diagnosis). Does anyone else do this?
We're exhausted...I try anything and everything to help him relieve his pain....reflexology, pressure points, reiki, hands on healing, prayer. All of this is getting humorous considering I have absolutely no training in any of these things...and I'm not what you would call a reverent kind of gal.
So I'd like some input if possible on any of these things. Any natural remedies work for anyone? What does meletonin do?I feel helpless as I watch him slam his head against the shower walls and scream. This is our drill (I'm guessing it may sound familiar) Sleep for about an hour...wake up...hot shower ... bang,bang,bang/scream, scream, scream... vomit... subside... crawl back in bed...repeat. Help!
