I had a similar experience when I traveled to a headache clinic only 3 hours away (It's really two hours away but with getting lost and all...) about 5 years ago. It was pre-HMO-days for everyone and I went to the clinic since i was told I would get the full work up too. As a matter of fact, everything that you said you'd get I was to get. I gave them my HMO insurance card and my entire appointment changed from a thorough work up to a 15 minute session with a doctor that was just a Q&A session. After that meeting he told me "You have cluster headaches." Very helpful since I listed as my reason for going as I have cluster headaches. Anyway, this is all to say that you were understandably upset, to say the least.
