They are all too quick to write a presciption.

I will give you my favorite example.

Me or my wife or my kids go to the Dr. with a cold of some sort. Usually they test for strep and send us home. The strep test comes back negative. The Dr. gives us an antibiotic. Antibiotics kill bacterial infections they do not effect viral infections. The Dr. knows it is a viral infection. I ask him why he is prescribing an antibiotic. He says just in case or to be sure or to be preventative.

We all know that antibiotics are the most over prescribed med in the world and as a result are losing their effectiveness as the little germs mutate.

Drs. are trained to do something - anything.

Everyone needs to take ownership of their disease or affliction. Drs. can be of help and we need to listen to their advice but only a fool would not research their own disease/medication.
