Dear Mr. Clinton,
I was heartened by your most recent State of the Union speech wherein you expressed concern for the plight of HMO patients who receive less than appropriate service, the poor whose suffering is excused by the artificial expense of appropriate medicines and (theoretically) insured citizens whose medical decisions are made by greedy bureaucrats instead of doctors. Accordingly, I feel it my civic duty to make you aware of an unfortunate group of souls who might be poster children for your declared agenda. I refer to those afflicted with the demonic pain of Cluster (a.k.a. Suicide) Headache. We excuse you for not knowing what Cluster Headache is, or why something as trivial as a headache should be associated with such despondent conditions as suicide. It is our daily experience to face both reactions from friends, family and medical professionals. We invite you to inform yourself of our abysmal situation by patronizing HTTP://WWW.CLUSTERHEADACHES.COM, a website established recently to record the crushing pain, emotional distress, depression, reclusive existence, and agony of skepticism which attend the malaise of the condition. Until this site was established, many believed they were the sole sufferers of the debilitating syndrome (a theory at least in part promulgated by professionals too lazy or disinterested to judiciously investigate their patients’, customers’ or friends’ distress). No doubt this led to the suicide alias attributed to the condition. The site is replete with comments, complaints, descriptions, suggestions, symptoms, and experiences of one of the most oppressed and ignored minorities in world society. If you cannot or will not help us, please at least visit the site and leave us a suggestion regarding how we might promote our cause to someone who can and will give us the recognition and help all human beings deserve.
