The first time I got a CH, I thought I was dying. I was convinced I had either had a brain hemmorage or a stroke or something. I went to doctors for years and was handed the standard meds for migraines. I would not take most of them (they did no good anyway) and hated walking around like a drugged up zombie. I had doctors tell me to see a psychiatrist. I had doctors tell me I had a drug problem and was just looking for painkillers. So, for 7 or 8 years I stopped going to doctors.
One bout when my daughter was about three was so bad, she caught me smashing a shower massage into my head and screaming in the bathroom. It was then that I looked for a dr. who specialized in migraines. He had a few cluster patients and knew EXACTLY what I had. He put me on Sansert, Oxygen and Prednisone. This wasn't the "magic cure" but it sure made things a bit easier to handle.
I've had them for 15 years. Once I realized they weren't going to kill me, they were a bit easier to handle. Remember this....YOU AREN'T ALONE!!
Try ice and heat. Try pressure points on your neck and temple and top of the head. Massage can help and so can hot showers. Most of all, don't give up hope. MANY new meds are being approved and researched for migraines and hopefully, some will work for CH people.
