The lidocaine I use comes in a spray bottle that gives a metered spray with each push of the pump. The instructions were two sprays in the effected nostril then the Dr. said 15 minutes and 2 more sprays but the instructions from the pahrmacy said 15 seconds and two more. The stuff works almost immmediately, less than a minute to be full strength. Don't expect miracles form the stuff. I found it only took away some of the sharp pain while I was waiting for the cafergot to kick in. It never did completely hide a headache.
