Sue, I agree with everybody that you should have your daughter checked, scanned etc. as soon as possible.
No, it is not normal to pass out.

BUT - as Ted happened to say lower on this page, it is possible to have two things at the time.
Your daughter may have developed cluster headaches (or Chronic Paroxysmal Hemicrania) while at the same time (or maybe because of these unfamiliar horrid pain attacks) being a victim of these fainting spells that are not unfamiliar in young, tall thin people. My partner is tall and thin and had it until his late twenties.

But get the right help, and ask at UKCH for a doctor in your area who knows about it.
