Just another alkaloid with systemic effects.
In my case it helps abort the attack, as you noted.
The condition you describe is what some here call
rebound HA's. I have not paid enough attention
to my symptoms to be able to attribute an attack
to a "rebound" condition. I agree that kicking the
caffeine habit is difficult, although not as tough
as for other alkolids, i.e.: caffeine, cocaine, etc.

That is why I only consume caffeine during cycles.
After they are over, so is the caffeine consumption.
I tapper it slowly, but steadily over a period of
a week. My expectations are that the next time I need it,
caffeine that is, my responses are just as strong as the previous
time I utilized it. As you may have noticed, many
become desensitized to caffeine, hence an increase
in dosage strength is required to wake us up in
the morning.

My reco is use it during, but not after a cycle is over.
