I have had migraine headaches with cluster headache variants along with some TMJ muscle spasms that give headaches in the temple region. I also have frequent sinus headaches. I've been suffering like this for about 7 years. My primary care doctor, neurologists and oral surgeon kept throwing different drugs at me. It was like a trial and error type of thing. I was on some heavy narcotics and that seemed to be the only way I could get relief. A couple of months ago I was surfing the net and also the actual Yellow Pages and found the one and only headache clinic in Denver, Colorado. I started treatment last week and I was impressed with the doctor and phsical therapist. The doctor put me on Verapamil and is increasing the dosage. I get an EKG every visit to make sure my heart is holding up OK and I believe the ultimate goal is 240mg 3 times a day. While tapering onto the Varapamil I am tapering off of the Depakote. I was taking 500mg 4 times a day and now I am down to 500mg once per day. The Depakote we believe, has given me a bad case of the tremors which is embarrassing at times. I figure I must look like an alcoholic in need of a drink. I don't mean that as a joke, k? Anyway, I am on 7 prescription drugs right now and my doctor and I hope to reduce the list of meds because who knows what is happening with all of those drugs in my system. I hope this helps you Stu if you are still reading this! If not, I hope it helps some of you other headachers!
Bob
