i was told by my neurologist and doctors who were
first trying to indentify what is wrong with me...
they asked if i smoke because most cluster suffers smoke.
I found out later from my neuro....that they would LESSOn
the severity of the attacks and make it less a longer cycle.
I do notice most of my ch friends smoke. I don't. The only
thing.. i can fight it better with lower dosages of meds... and
these MEDS are hard on the body. I guess smoking is just one more
thing our blood vessels have to deal with.. and so it just sort of like
pouring more into our veins that are already struggling. And if
you don't do it for the pain... or lessening of the pain, do it
for your health... for NOT getting certain kinds of cancers. IT's
easy for me to preach since i don't smoke. I would certainly say,
use the patches.... cause enough is enough and cold turkey is hard.
I use to drink alot... but now i drink once in awhile.... and it took
a long time... and alot of friends to help me. Good luck... and
Nancy... darn it woman... ABOUT TIME! oh, drink lots of water when
trying to quit. It's a medical reason for this.... your system will
do better if you drink water the same day you cut down and it seems
smoking is a natural way to control weight... that's why so many don't want
to quit...cause of weight gain. It's cause your systems are healthier...and
water helps keep the weight off while quitting.

My dad use to smoke...and it took years before he finally quit!
so... i learned ALOT ..... good luck. sonya....
