Ritalin prophylaxis for cluster headaches

I read an article (which I have misplaced) that stated
a man (45 with clusters for 5 years - my case scenario
exactly except I'm female) was using Ritalin 25 mg SR
first thing in the morning which stopped the cycle.
Does anyone have any information? My MD is
experimenting with Ritalin 10 mg, and it seems to be
preventing the first attack from occurring as early as
it normally does (I've been 5 years with chronic, daily,
cluster HA, 3-8 a day, nonstop, no remissions - pain'
clinics x 2, University of Iowa inpatient, all anti-
inflammatory and all migraine drugs without any success.
Stadol NS is the only thing that still does the job,
although I require more to do the job, at least, Praise
God, there is something that is still working. Yes,
I've been the lithium, neurontin, depakote, verapamil,
calcium channel blockers, antihypertensives, etc., etc.

I think this Ritalin thing might just work for me. Does
anyone else know anything about this?

Thanks.

Sue Gustafson.

P.S. Would be great to hear immediately as I see my MD
again late this p.m. (I know...why didn't I post earlier?
...I just found the web site!)
